RUNNING!

YEAH! I just finished on the treadmill. I didn't do it last night because I suddenly had a horrible stomach ache and headache. Anyways... onto today!

It felt absolutely awesome. I had a goal of 20 minutes in mind... I met that goal... but while doing it, I made another goal - start RUNNING! And guess what I did... just that... I ran in intervals with 3mph walking in between to calm the heartrate a bit. I ran for a total of 4 minutes in that 20 min period. Included in that 20 min is the warm-up and cool-down. The totals were just over a mile... 37.4 fat calories burned... 119 calories burned... YEAH!

I stretched when I was done and will probably be doing more stretching throughout the day. Towards the end I really felt it around my knees. Now that I am sitting here, I can feel tightness in my lower back (which has caused me problems lately).

But I still can't believe I did it! WEIGHT LOSS - HERE I COME!!!

Congratulations, sweetheart! Great job! I'm so proud of you. Just increase it a little bit at a time. Before you know it, you will be signing up for an Ironman. ;-)

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!! Great job!! 20 minutes is a great place to start! I started at about 10, LOL. It won't take long until you are ready for a 5K. BTW, that is a great way to stay motivated..pick a race and sign up for it. Then it really motivates you to get a little bit done each week to be ready for the event. Keep up the great work!

WoooooHoooooo!!! Good job. When I started, I just went one house further each time (running outside, obviously). You don't want to push too far too fast.

WHOOOO HOOOOOO!!! CONGRATS!!! I absolutely agree with Lisa! 20 minutes is a great place to start ;D. When I started exercising, I started at 15 minutes and worked up from there. Before you know it you'll be going 30 minutes, then 40, etc . . . You'll be giving Chad a run for his money! He better watch out! ;)

Fantastic news ... I'm sure Chad has told you all this, but, start out slooooooooooooow. Walk for 5 minutes, run for 1 mintue and repeat. Slowly (over the weeks) decrease the walking and increase the running. The key is to get to the point where you can run non-stop for 30 mintues and get there injury free. From that point, there isn't any limit to what sort of running you can do. And you'll find it nearly impossible to keep extra weight on once you get to the point where you are running 30 mintues 4 or 5 times a week.

Good luck and welcome to the club.

That is fab-u-lous!!!! And weight will fall off when you start running, at least it did for me! Thanks for that great description and your enthusiasm.

Awesome, awesome job! Taking that first step (figuratively speaking) is the hardest. Like getting a train rolling, it takes some time, patience, and effort. But it keeps rolling easily once going. Keep it up, and you'll be running circles around Chad in no time. Especially if you keep kicking his knee at night! ;-)

Great job!! Congrats on getting off to a super start on the run/walking, keep it up! I know it can be so tough to get motivated, and the workout can be so hard, but it's all worth that feeling you get after finishing a good workout. You should be so proud of yourself! :) Way to go!!

Ahhh!!! This is so fantastic! You've already have a huge support system at home, and now you got us. ((hugs)). Starting slow is smart and a must for someone whom wants to keep with it. You're doing great. 20min is a LONG time, and you're doing great! keep it up and I'm sure, like everyone else, I can't wait to hear how you like it.

You'll be entering Tri's right along with Chad before you know it! You can do anything you set your mind too! Have fun out there!

WTG!! Good for you! I need to get more exercise, but I just hate it. I need to find something that I love doing, and that's easy to do, and something that I can do while on the computer. Is there something like that? :) Keep it up - you're doing great!!

I put a note for you over on your hubby's blog. :>) I was thinking we could shot for a 5K together this fall.

Yeah, welcome to the running club!!!

You will love it!!! I have had two kids via two c-sections and my body really needed some major help. Since I started running late last year, I have lost at least 20 pounds and have no found a new joy in life: running AND racing!!! I am so addicted to the racing now, having done four races since January.

I will add you to my running reads!!
