HAPPY VETERAN'S DAY!

I started the day off thinking of all the men and women whom have fought for our country - specifically my grandfather. Grampa Herbie fought during WWII and shared many a story with us. He passed away in March 2002. I know that he watches over us every day but I still really miss him. I sometimes regret the fact that we waited to have our children and him not being alive to meet them. But deep down I know that he's met them. When the twins were born, Matthew had issues with breathing so he stayed in the NICU. When I was released from the hospital, I went down to tell Matthew that I would be back to see him and their was a rocking chair next to him. I had this really strong feeling that Grampa Herbie was sitting there taking care of my baby - the scariest part of that feeling is Matt's full name is Matthew Herbert. When my mother came to stay with me and the new babies, she stopped by the hospital, as it was on the way home. By the time she arrived at the house, she was in tears since she had that same feeling.

My grandfather was the type of man whom put everyone and everything before him. He loved to sit on the front porch and wave to everyone that passed. My grandfather is someone I look up to and want to live my life to the fullest - just like he did. To this entry I devote to my grandfather - Herbert Ferdinand Genshiemer. I love you!
